The government has since the roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccination programme early this year procured a total of 11 800 000 Covid-19 vaccines.
“Cabinet wishes to further inform citizens that 1 million doses of Sinovac vaccines were received on 14 September 2021,” said Information Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa during last Tuesday’s post-cabinet media briefing.
“This brings the total number of vaccine doses received since the roll-out of the vaccination programme to 11 800 000.”
Below is a breakdown of some of the vaccines received to date.
February 2021
· On the 15th of February Zimbabwe received the first-ever 200, 000 Sinopharm vaccines donated to the country by China.
March 2021
· On March 16 the country received 200, 000 and another 144, 000 purchased by the government
· On 29 March, Zimbabwe received a batch of 35, 000 Covaxin vaccines donated by India
May 2021
· Zimbabwe on 17 May 2021 received 100, 000 doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines donated by China.
June 2021
· President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the 11th of June received 25, 000 Sputnik V vaccines donated by the diamond mining company, Alrosa Group
July 2021
· Zimbabwe on July 8 received 2 million Sinovac vaccines bought from China
· On July 25, the country received 1 million Sinovac Covid-19 vaccines purchased from China
· On July 26 the country received 500, 000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines procured from China
· On 28 July Zimbabwe took delivery of 800, 000 Sinopharm vaccines bought from China
· On July 29 Zimbabwe received 700, 000 doses of Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine
August 2021
· On August 20 Zimbabwe received 500, 000 Sinopharm Covid-19 jabs
· On 24 August the country received 1 million Sinovac vaccines from China
September 2021
· The country on September 1 received 15, 000 doses of Sputnik V vaccines donated by the Government of Serbia
· On the 14th of September Zimbabwe received 1 million Sinovac Covid-19 jabs from China
Vaccination update
· As at 27 September 2021 a total of 3, 051, 371 Zimbabweans have received their first jab while 2, 211 880 are now fully vaccinated.
