Vice President Constantino Chiwenga addressed a Zanu PF rally at Rudhaka Stadium in Marondera on Sunday
Here are some of the promises he made to the party supporters:
In Mashonaland East we have three candidates for the National Assembly and ten candidates for the local government in the upcoming by-elections. We want a clean sweep, we don’t want Zanu PF to lose.
President Mnangagwa ushered us into the Second Republic and he promised to be a listening president and to bring wealth to the people through devolution, to ensure that all there is development in every part of the country.
As Zanu PF we have taken it upon ourselves to bring development to our nation and dignity to our people.
We have started building dams, fixing roads and bridges.
We are fixing our airports, those who want proof can go to Harare International Airport.
We are building schools, hospitals, we are improving our farming and mining methods.
Stone upon stone, brick upon brick, we shall build our country
The black market is responsible for the price hikes we are experiencing in the country and causes the depreciation in value of our local currency. The government is in the process of addressing this issue
I once spoke about this in Bulawayo and some were arrested and later released. This time around they will receive long sentences. Arrest those who are found using the black market.
The Second Republic led by President Mnangagwa has achieved a lot, we have a plan to improve power generation and the completion of Hwange Unit 7 and 8. We do not want power outages.
Once Hwange Unit 7 and 8 are completely refurbished we will be able to export electricity. We are also looking at other alternatives of power generation not only in Hwange but in different areas.
We are working on the Batoka Gorge and we are looking at generating 2000MW.
We are in the process of building dams, some of them have been completed including Tokwe Mukosi in Masvingo, Gwai Shangani which we want to complete this year, Kunzvi which we are starting soon, Marovanyati which was completed and commissioned last year.
Our roads are now in a good state and offering comfort to road users, an example is the Beitbridge – Masvingo highway. If you use that road you will notice that it is being rehabilitated and there is also the Bulawayo – Harare highway and the Harare – Mutare highway.
We have many other roads in our cities and rural areas which are being upgraded.
In Mashonaland East, we have so many dams that were constructed and some which are still under construction, an example is the Chivi one I mentioned earlier which is at 90% and will be completed this year. It will increase threefold water supplies to Chivi and on top of that it will irrigate 200 hectares.
These projects will bring wealth to Mashonaland East.
Muchekeranwa Dam which was commissioned last year, has to be fitted with pipes to draw water to Wenimbe. It will done this year.
Once we do this, we will be able to purify water in Rufaro and Nyambuya dams and supply water to areas east of Harare which include Ruwa, Zimre, Mabvuku and Tafara. We promise that these pipes will be installed before the end of the year.
We also want to inform you that we have another dam called Nyatana which is being constructed on the Mazowe River. We have identified a contractor, Salin, an Italian company. Once the dam is complete we will have irrigation schemes from Mudzi to Harare, covering 2000 hectares or more.
We will also generate 500MW of electricity and fisheries and also establish tourist attractions.
The Zanu PF government has plans to uplift Rwenya
We will give title deeds to people throughout the country.
