Zimbabwe is going for elections on 23 August 2023, to elect a new government. The country’s laws dictates certain conduct expected from election candidates and the electorate on polling day.
These provisions are listed in Section 147 of the Electoral Act of Zimbabwe.
Below are some of the things that are prohibited at polling stations on election day:
- Putting on party regalia
- Uttering party slogans
- Use of presence of a political party or candidate branded vehicles
- Use of cameras or phones inside the polling station
- Distribution of leaflets or pamphlets on behalf of any candidate or political party
- Public singing, use of bands, music or loudspeakers
