Claim: CCC has released the names of party members selected to be part of the Senate and Proportional Representation seats in Parliament.
A list purportedly from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) with names of party members who have made it to the Senate and Parliament under proportional representation following the 9 December by-election, is making rounds on social media.
The list contains Patricia Tshabalala a Bulawayo based firebrand human rights activist. The other names are Mbuso Siso, Mildred Ncube and Albert Mhlanga.
The PR list has Thembelani Mkandla, Soneni Moyo and Lubalethu Msimanga.
Verdict: Misleading
Contacted for a comment, CCC spokesperson Promise Mkhwananzi dismissed the list as a lie.
“That is a lie, we did not recall our senators, ZANU-PF recalled the recalled senators. President Chamisa wrote a letter that no one was recalled, that is our position. If ZANU-PF decides to put their people, it’s up to them but it will be illegal,” said Mkwananzi.
In addition, the self-imposed CCC interim secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu who has been recalling Members of Parliament, and councillors from CCC said the list is not from his office.
“Not coming from my office,” said Tshabangu.
Tshabalala said she was not aware, “you know that people just write”.
