Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has confirmed the names of candidates who were duly nominated for the election to the National Assembly in the upcoming by-election on 9 December 2023.
ZEC Chief Elections Officer, Utloile Silaigwana said polling shall take place on 9 December 2023 from 7 am to 7 pm to elect members of the National Assembly in the constituencies.
There are 31 aspiring candidates in total running for nine vacant constituencies. Of the 31 aspiring candidates, only four (4) are females while 27 are males.
The majority of the aspiring candidates are from the ruling party ZANU-PF and Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), there are two independent candidates, two candidates from DOP and one candidate from ZAPU.
