Claim: The daily Blog News claimed that the self-imposed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) interim secretary general Sengezo Tshabangu has appointed Welshman as the new interim CCC president.
“Self-imposed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu has appointed Welshman Ncube as the new interim party president and has also set up an interim leadership structure that is mobilizing members ahead of his party’s national congress to elect a substantive leadership,” read the article.
The story went on to list the other appointees including Mbuso Siso who is the national treasurer, Albert Mhlanga who is the deputy national chairperson, Sikhululekile Moyo who is the women assembly chairperson and Nomvula Mguni who is the national director for elections.
A quick analysis however revealed that the story was originally published by the News Day before the Daily Blog News lifted the story and edited it.
Here is a link to the original story:
The original story only mentioned that Tshabangu had appointed and interim leadership structure and not the CCC president.
The story also revealed that Tshabangu announced the Tshabalala-Pelandaba constituency rally where Tshabangu was a guest speaker at the event to mobilise support for his candidate Moreblessing Tembo ahead of the by-election to be held on February 3.
Tshabangu is on record stating that he recognises Nelson Chamisa as the CCC leader.
